Can someone please provide an update on the progress of a City Park in Dominion at Panther Creek? I was told by my sales agent that the park would probably be completed sometime in the next year or so during Phase 2 construction, however, I've recently heard from neighbors that they've heard it will be many years away?

I'm hoping that I'm correct as this was a selling point as to where I chose to purchase nmy home and that there is already a large number of tax-paying families with young children in the neighborhood that want their children to have the opportunity to enjoy this park before they grow up :- )

Dear Brian,

Thanks for your note regarding the neighborhood park that is located in the Dominion at Panther Creek.

While we always encourage future or interested residents to confirm this, in this particular case, it appears that your agent was pretty accurate.

Our current 7 Year Parks Capital Development Program has identified funding for this project for 2006 and 2007. Should funding continue to remain in place for that scenario, this would mean that the park would be master planned in mid to late 2006 and the actual development of the park with $800,000 in funding would take place during 2007 and conclude in 2008.

Just for your information, our staff and the Parks and Recreation Board examines and reviews the 7 Year CIP plan on a regular basis during the year. There are several potential funding sources for projects such as this. This would include park dedication funds from the development process, grant resources, and GO Bonds that were approved through the 2002 bond election.

Should you have any additional questions regarding this, please let me or our staff know.

Thanks again,

Rick Wieland
