I have two questions. When will city park next to Gunstream elementary be built? The neighborhood surrounding it has been complete for years. I know that other newer neighborhoods have had their parks budgeted and built. Second, When will the bike path be built below the high power lines that run north and south between Coit and Hillcrest? The area around these lines from Main to 121 is pretty well developed know.

Thanks for your note regarding the construction of Shepherds Glen park. Your timing is just about perfect as the City Council awarded the bid for the construction of the park in May. The contractor has just completed the task of obtaining necessary bonds for the project.

Once these contracts have been properly executed, the contractor will be on site and working. I expect that this will occur within the next two weeks, if weather does not impede this. Construction of the park will continue for a period of 8-10 months and should be completed by Spring of 2006.

In regard to the hike and bike trail that will provide a connection essentially from Coit to Hillcrest, our staff is currently working on a design for a trail that would provide a connection from College Parkway to Rolater Road. You may know that there is a trail along College Parkway from Coit to Hillcrest at this time. The additional trail connection along the power line easements will provide an additional north-south path in this area.

We hope to be in a position to fund this project in 2005, but this could be delayed until 2006, depending on funding availability.

Should you have any additional questions regarding either of these two projects, or others, please feel free to let me or our staff know.
