I am curious if these lights are permanent or if they are just temporary. If they are permanent, why weren't the steel poles used instead of wood poles and suspension wires? These are not very attractive, and do not match lights recently constructed nearby at Teel and Main, or at Legacy and Lebanon. If they are temporary, when will permanent lights be installed?

These signals are considered temporary for now. I agree that the new look on Legacy further south does look better and we are using that look for all new permanent signals.

In this case, we had some construction timelines on nearby projects that didn't allow for building a permanent signal. A temporary signal can usually be constructed in 30 to 60 days once a notice to proceed is issued. A permanent signal will usually take 130 to 160 days to construct.

We also have a study that is ongoing that is looking at the long term configuration of this intersection. Several of the scenarios we are considering will require major changes to the traffic signal. With that study in mind, we also felt it was better to spend less money now and build a temporary knowing major changes will probably be needed in the future.

At this time, I would estimate that this temporary signal will remain in operation for at least four to five years.
