Please, give an update on the scheduled completion date for the construction on 720, just west of Custer?

Staff has just received bids for the construction of the intersection at Custer Road and FM 3537 last week. This bid is going to City Council on May 3, 2005 for approval and normally it requires 60 days to see construction start with a 6 month construction schedule. We anticipate the opening of this to be in January 2006.

If you require further information please call me at 972-335-5585 ext. 129.

It was my understanding that 3537 was under the control of TXDOT. Why is the city now involved and why was the city not involved earlier?

Mr. Thompson,

Here is a link to a response to a similar question about the city's involvement in 3537 and the Custer/3537 intersection in December.

The linked thread says 4 months to complete and this thread says 6 months.

What has changed with the project to increase it by 50%?

Mr. Thompson,

Per Frank Jaromin, City Engineer:

TxDot, Frisco and McKinney have expanded the scope of work for this project by adding right turn lanes, longer transitions and more construction phases of work to accomplish the construction.

Please contact Frank Jaromin if you have additional questions.

Mr. Thompson,

Per Hulon Webb, Senior Civil Engineer, "we are still anticipating completion in January 2006 contingent upon timely relocation of existing utilities."

Has this project completion been pushed back? What is the expected completion date?

Mr. Thompson, thanks for the post. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to anyone a major concrete encased fiber duct run has been discovered to be in direct conflict with the proposed storm sewer trunk line.

Until such time as the fiber duct run can be relocated, the contractor will continue to work on completing the unaffected areas.

The estimated completion date for the project has been pushed back to early April.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at (972) 335-5585 ext. 127.

Thanks, Hulon
