At Stonebriar Mall the upper level cross walks have a continuous harmonic vibration. Could this cause stress fractures and ultimately a colapse?

This question was asked soon after the Mall opened in 2000. The explanation was that the harmonic vibrations were caused by the cantilever design of the upper floor. Other Malls also have this characteristic. Before Construction , the design, plans, etc. were reviewed by a third party review team for structural and code compliance. This was in addition to the City's Commercial Plan Reviewer, who is also an Architect. After your inquiry, I spoke with Brian Macpherson, RPA. Brian is the Operations Manager for General Growth Stonebrair Center. Brian assured me that the Mall was safe. General Growth has scheduled inspections which are performed on a regular basis. If you have other questions, please call the General Growth office at 972-668-4900.
