At a time when we should be reducing the number of above ground lines in our city, why have new above ground lines been added to the north bound side of Dallas Parkway just south of Main Street on the west side of Frisco Square? I am hoping that the lines are temporary. Will these be removed when the stadium is completed?

Ms. Granberry-

The new poles that you see south of Main Street along Dallas Parkway are in conjunction with the main lanes of the Dallas North Tollway being constructed, not the Soccer Stadium complex. Becase CoServ had an existing line that crossed Dallas Parkway at Main Street that needed to be removed to make way for the grade separation at Main and the DNT, the existing line had to be re-routed south along the western portion of the DNT and then back north to Main to pick up service.

While the City of Frisco makes every reasonable attempt to get lines underground, the cost and timing of some projects is not justified. In this case, it was both cost and timing that factored into our decision. Whether the poles are temporary or permanent will be dependent upon the development of the property that fronts the DNT.

I thought that power lines are buried when development occurs. I noticed that the SE corner of Teel and Main still has above ground power lines, even though it was just developed. Will the SW corner, which is under construction now, be required to bury the lines?

Doug-

We are reviewing these on a case by case basis, and are working through a new comprehensive Ordinance at this point. Regarding the specific location you asked about, I have not yet seen the electrical plan for that development to be able to say.
