Hello!

Other day I saw some pre-construction activity on El Dorado Parkway (opposite of Griffin Middle School).

Now with school starting within 3 weeks, can some one update following:
IS TX DOT start expansion of this section of El Dorado Parkway?
There will be any traffic police in front of Griffin Middle School (for AM & PM)?

After School start impact of AM traffic will bad.

Thanks in advance.

With the beginning of each new school year, we attempt to saturate all the school zones to remind drivers that they need to slow down for children and drive with courtesy.

Shafi,

Thank you for your inquiry. The construction activity you see is the widening of Eldorado Parkway (FM 2934) to include left turn lanes into Griffin Park Middle School. This construction will be done in two pieces. The school district is constructing the "base" of the roadway. This will widen Eldorado to the width needed to include a left turn bay into the school and two foot shoulders. Within a few weeks of the completion of the "base" work, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will beginning overlaying a new asphalt top over length of Eldorado - including the new widened area adjacent to Griffin Middle School.

All parties are working hard to have this portion of the roadway in place prior to the beginning of school, but it may not be 100% by August 16. The project is anticipated to be complete by September 2004.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Dalton

Could you please let us know there will be any school sign on El Dorado?

Thanks,

Shafi,

Per the Texas Department of Transporation, there will not be a reduced speed school zone on Eldorado Parkway. They will be installing a flashing advisory zone to remind drivers they are adjacent to a school. The advisory zone will have the standard house shaped school warning sign and flashing beacons similiar to the school zone flashers. The City has been informed that these advisory signs will be in place for the first day of school.

What happen?

One other question, what is status of Traffic light at intersection of El Dorado Parkway & FM423.

Thanks,

Shafe,

We are in continual contact with the Texas Department of Transportation. The Denton Area office will be installing these signs and are currently working toward the installation. They are installing flashers throughout Denton County and have told us that it will be completed as quickly as they can.

If you have any other questions, please contact me.

Sincerely,
