The builders of Parkside Estates, named "Park" side Estates for the park which was to be built adjacent to Centennial HS as a joint venture between the school and the city is still non- existent. What is the status of the park/jogging trail? Thank you!!! :-)

Dear Aaron,

Thanks for your note regarding a possible city park site within the Parkside Estates development and possible use as a joint venture between Centennial High School and the City.

First of all, I can tell you that we don't have a park site in our system in the location that you are describing next to Centennial High School.

We do have a neighborhood park (Shepherd's Hill) that is located along Inlet Street, just to the north of and adjacent to Gunstream Elementary School. This park site was master planned in 2003 and we are hopeful that development will be taking place beginning in late 2004, with potential completion in 2005.

In regard to a hike and bike trail near the Centennial High School location, I can tell you that we are currently designing a future hike and bike trail that runs along the utility easement, which is located just to the west of the High School. This potential trail will ultimately run from College Parkway northward past Centennial High School, Wester Middle School, through Gunstream Elementary School and the Shepherd's Hill park site and continue northward towards FM 3537. The first expected phase of development of this trail will take place from College Parkway to the Shepherd's Hill neighborhood park. We hope to have funds available in 2004 to complete this section of the trail.

Should there be another tract of land that you have questions on, please feel free to contact me or our staff and we will be happy to discuss this with you further.
