Are they planning on putting up traffic lights there instead of the 4 way stop signs. I have noticed that folks have a problem with the concept of stopping at these stop signs. Does there have to be a certain amount of accidents before they do something?

The intersection of Lebanon & Legacy is currently being evaluated as a potential traffic signal location for the upcoming fiscal year. Once this intersection meets traffic warrants and funding has been secured, it will be installed.

May I please put in a very strong "second" to the comment above? We live in this area and dread coming to this intersection - I feel like I'm risking my safety every time. Is there any way to expedite the evaluation process? Waiting for the coming fiscal year seems like too long for this situation to continue.

This intersection has been evaluated and does meet traffic warrants at this time. The current estimate is that construction will be complete in August 2004. Typically, a signal construction project takes ten months from the time City Council awards the bid for design to the traffic signal is placed in operation.

Currently, the City has eight future traffic signals in various stages of design. Time and staffing constraints limit the number of projects that can occur simultaneously. As the current projects are completed, additional signal designs will begin. The design for a traffic signal at the intersection of Lebanon and Legacy will begin in the near future.
