Hello, is there a plan to put in a sidewalk on either side of Legacy from Lebanon, through Warren, and out to the Stonebriar development? Currently there are very short sidewalks from about the tennis club until about 50-100 ft. from Warren (on the W side; the sidewalk used to go all the way to Warren on the E side, but it's since been torn up by the construction on that corner). I live on that stretch of Legacy and work a mile away, so I walk to work every day and have resorted to wearing my "yucky" shoes after getting mud on a couple of other pair. I would ride my bike, but it's scary riding on a two lane road with a 40 mph speed limit and no bike lanes, not to mention being pelted with pebbles left over from construction vehicles and getting exhaust blown in my face.

If there is a plan to put in a sidewalk, when will it be completed?

The City's goal is to provide sidewalks at all of these locations; however some of these locations are contingent upon the timming of the development of the adjacent property.

The south intersections at Lebanon and Legacy are being developed now and sidewalks will be installed at these retail sites. As you stated in your e-mail, sidewalks are continuous along the east side of Legacy from the Country Club to Warren.

Staff is looking at the possibility of installing a sidewalk along Legacy between Warren and Stonebriar, as we intend on constructing the missing northbound section of Legacy Drive in the very near future. Design plans for this section of roadway are 95% complete and the project should be bid within the next 4-6 weeks. The most likely location for sidewalk in this section will be along the west side of Legacy adjacent to the Stonebriar development.

The site on the west side of Legacy at the intersection of Warren (between the Stonebriar community and the day school) has no current plans for development. Sidewalks will be required on this site when it develops. However, staff will look into possibly extending the proposed sidewalk adjacent to Stonebriar to the intersection of Warren. This link would provide a continuous paved path all the way to Stonebriar.

Sidewalks along the east side of Legacy between Warren and Stonebriar will likely be postponed until the adjacent sites develop. Constructing sidewalks adjacent to undeveloped property is avoided if possible to prevent potential damage during construction.

Thank you for your interest. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Is there anyway in the meantime to lay gravel down to make the path a little easier and less muddy to walk on?

Jadyn, I have tried to provide gravel on other projects in the past, but the gravel does not seem to last very long before it disappears due to rain or becoming imbedded into the ground and therefore no longer useful. I contacted our Public Works Department this afternoon to see if a temporary asphalt sidewalk is an option. I hope to post an answer tomorrow for you. Thanks for your follow up.

Jadyn:

I understand your concerns but the City of Frisco does not have the personnel or equipment to build temporary sidewalks. You may contact me at 972-335-5520.
