Are there any plans to put a redlight on Preston Road north of Main Street? It has become extremely dangerous to get onto Preston Road now from Fisher, Meadow Hill and Eldorado. There are now 2 housing divisions in the area, plus Warren Sports Complex.

Carol,

We are in the process of completing a signal warrant study for the intersection of Eldorado and Preston. Once complete, it will be submitted to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). TxDOT must approve the request before a signal can be constructed along a state highway.

Once a request is approved, TxDOT must approve the design of the signal before construction will begin. At this time we are also trying to determine funding sources for the signal.

Thanks

Is it possible to have police guide traffic in this area? It is a challenge to exit Fisher street onto Preston Road between 7:30 and 8:00am.

Is there also a study regarding Preston Road and Rock Hill Road? Again, there has become a major problem with vehicles getting onto Preston in the morning heavy traffic flow going south into Frisco.

We will schedule a signal warrant study for this location within the next two to three weeks.

Brian,
What's the status of the study for Fisher, Meadowhill, etc.? In the morning, the traffic is bumper-to-bumper at 5 m.p.h. from Main (720) to somewhere north of Fisher. The southbound traffic is kind enough to stop and let side street traffic get on Preston. This occurs around 8:30 a.m. weekdays. The daycare on Meadowhill backs up as well since some parents need to go northbound on Preston as well as southbound.
Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

The signal warrant study for SH 289 and Eldorado has been completed and submitted to TxDOT for approval. Last Tuesday, March 4, the City Council approved an agreement that allows for us to begin the design of this traffic signal.

It is expected that this signal will create gaps in the southbound traffic flow that will make getting in and out of Fisher and Meadowhill easier in the morning.

The signal warrant study at Rockhill has been completed and is being prepared to forward to TxDOT.

Thanks
Brian Moen

Brian,
Thanks for the status update. Given TxDOT approval and design completion, when might construction begin?

Thanks,
Tom

What is the status of the proposed traffic light at Hwy 289 and Eldorado? There was another injury accident this morning. I hope the project is progressing.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

This project is progressing. The 65% plans have been completed, reviewed by Staff, and sent back to our consultant. The 90% plans are expected to arrive later today and will be submitted to TxDOT for their review.

The TxDOT review usually takes two to four weeks. Once their review is complete, the comments will be addressed and we should be ready to go to bid for construction.

Thanks

What is that status of the TxDOT review of signal light construction on 289 at Eldorado?

We have not received comments back yet from their review of the plans. We will be following up with the TxDOT office on Monday to check the status.

Michelle,

The TxDOT office mailed the plans Friday and we received them today. I need time to look at the comments and then have our consultant make the necessary corrections.
