At the intersection of Blue Bay and Sweetwater (Hillcrest Estates - east side of Hillcrest) there are small black squares that are bolted to the concrete on all four sides of the intersection. They appear to be some type of traffic monitoring devices (they have a "Nu-Metrics" label). I know that curiosity killed the cat but can someone explain what they are for and how long they will be there? If they are monitoring traffic, what is it that they are monitoring at this relatively low traffic area within a quiet neighborhood? Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Thank you for the question.
These devices are used to count vehicles. The counters were installed last Thursday morning and were active for a period of 24 hours. The counts were made in response to an August 22 message board posting concerning this intersection. The message board posting requested the installation of an all-way stop.
(Read down towards the bottom of the following link for the request)
Based on the count information, an all-way stop sign installation is not warranted for this location.
