There has been an email circulating throughout the city that describes an attempted purse snatching incident at the mall. There has been no such offense reported to Frisco Police or Stonebriar Mall Security. Obviously, citizens should always be aware of their surroundings and cautious regardless of where they are.

I have just been made aware that the incident did in fact occur in the upper parking area at Stonebriar Mall on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at 1:10 p.m. It was initially reported as an assault, thus the robbery did not show in our system. When the report was reviewed it was determined that it was in fact an attempted robbery. I apologize for the mis-report.

The suspect was described as a white male between 14-20, dark hair, plaid shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. The victim was pushed to the ground. The suspect fled emptyhanded.

If anyone has any information about this offense, please call Detective Walter at 972.335.5502
