I know that the dates for widening Eldorado Parkway has changed several times. Can you give me the latest information on when the project will start and estimated completion of widening Eldorado from DNT to FM 423. Why does the date keep getting put off? The morning traffic just keeps getting worse and worse. Thanks for any information.

Dear Mr. Vanderpoel:

At this time the scheduled let, or bid opening, date for the Eldorado (FM 2934) DNT to FM 423 Project is April 2007. It is planned for 18 months of construction; however, this is under review by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Construction time may be extended to 24 months.

The next milestone in the project is environmental clearance, or the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). This is being reviewed by TxDOT in Austin. Upon approval, which is expected this year, the City of Frisco is then permitted to obtain right of way and easements for the construction. If this can be accomplished in time, as well as the subsequent utility relocations, the project will still let in April 2007. TxDOT is discussing their options if property acquisition and utility relocations cannot be completed by April 2007. One option is to let and award the project, but with a delayed start date, so as to allow the completion of utility relocations. The other option would be an adjusted let date. Please check back in a few months for an update.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me at the below numbers or addresses.

Sincerely,

Is this still on schedule to start in April 2007?

Mr. Chassie:

At this time TxDOT has rescheduled the let date to July 2007. Most likely utilities will need more time to relocate. We are anticipating begining construction this Fall (let in July with a delayed construction start).
