When animal control picks up lost or stray animals, what happens to them? I recently read that the SPCA has suspended all contracts with neighboring cities and will only take animals with a reservation. If there are no reservations available, what happens to the animal?

Paula -

Code Enforcement received your animal-related inquiry. The SPCA no longer provides shelter services for Frisco. Frisco's new animal shelter agent is Collin County Animal Services, located in McKinney. For additional information, please contact Animal Control at (972) 292-5303 or e-mail to animalcontrol@friscotexas.gov

Sharon,
When did the SPCA cease providing shelter for Frisco? Frisco Animal Control took a dog there for me a couple of weeks ago, which has since been successfully adopted out.

Are there any requirements for Dogs licenses in Frisco? If so where do I get them? Thanks!

At this time the City of Frisco only requires that your pet be currently vaccinated against the rabies virus and the rabies tag be attached to your animal at all times (on the collar).

The rabies tag is considered your pet's license for the City of Frisco. Please ensure your pet is currently vaccinated against the rabies virus, and the rabies tag is worn at all times.

If you have additional questions, please contact Animal Control at (972) 292-5303 or via e-mail to animalcontrol@friscotexas.gov.
