Frisco can not afford to loose it's few gorgeous mature trees, especially along south Legacy and the evergreens on Warren. What is being done to save them?

The trees on Warren east of the DNT are the responsibility of Frisco Bridges which is managed by the Bradford Management Group. I will pass your concerns on to them today. The City of Friscoís water plan for the current stage three restrictions eliminates watering any medians, except for tree bubblers or drip irrigation. Unfortunately the trees on south legacy do not have bubblers. However, we received a variance from the Director of Public Works to begin watering the trees with the turf irrigation. At the far south end we donít currently have access to water due to the TXDot construction of Hwy 121. Public Works personnel are again assisting us with those areas by watering the trees with a water truck.

The majority of the trees on south Legacy are red oaks that have been planted for more than twenty years. Although they may show some stress due to the continued drought, they are very resilient and should survive with minimal effects. There are some Bradford pears that have also been there for quite a few years and are not long lived trees. In fact they are no longer on the Cityís approved list of trees to plant. Regardless of the drought, they will not fair as well because of their age and short life spans.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss further.
