I have three questions related to 121 and cross streets:
1. When will the Ohio throughfare at 121 be restored?
2. When will the Preston overpass be completed?
3. Although I know this is not Frisco, do you know if and when Hillcrest might be completed from 121 to Legacy?

Ohio Drive is scheduled to be opened in November 2006 with Preston to be open in November 2007. The City of Plano can handle the Hillcrest question. Please contact Allen Upchurch.

Mr Jaromin: You say that Ohio is going to reopen November 2006. The annoucment in the City News section of this web site says that it will be closed until November 2007. I would love to see the 2006 date because it is an inconvience now with it closed. What date is correct?

The city's engineering department requests a regular update from TxDOT and provides that update via email to interested parties. You can get on that email distribution by contacting Stephanie Spence in engineering. Her contact information is at the bottom of this message.

Here is the latest update.

SH 121 Construction Update
(May 5, 2006)

The SH 121 construction consists of two projects: building the main lanes of SH 121 (from Hillcrest to the west city limits) and constructing three lane service roads in each direction. Listed below are the improvements planned in the upcoming weeks for this project.

INDEPENDENCE, COIT, HILLCREST These intersections are anticipated to have all northbound and southbound lanes complete and open to traffic within the next 6 months.

OHIO An Overpass will be constructed for northbound and southbound Ohio. This intersection was closed April 24, 2006. TxDOT anticipates having the Ohio Overpass complete Fall 2007.

PRESTON The final configuration will be three levels: the service roads as the 1st (bottom) level, Preston Overpass as the 2nd (middle) level, and SH 121 as the 3rd (top) level. TxDOT anticipates having the Preston Overpass completed in November 2006. All of the northbound lanes of Preston at Gaylord will be reopened to traffic the week of May 21st, 2006.

Service Roads Traffic was switched to the new service roads east of Preston on April 24, 2006. The box diamond at Preston and SH 121 should be opened to traffic by the 1st week of June. This will result in the SH 121 service roads being opened to traffic just west of Preston Road. TxDOT anticipates having the new service roads to Dallas North Tollway open to traffic October 2006.

By partnering with TxDOT staff, we hope this newsletter will be of benefit to each of you as you commute to work, shop, and play. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. It is almost middle of April and Ohio overpass is still not open. Do you have a revised date for opening?

Thanks.

Per Cissy Sylo, Director of Engineering:

According to Ron Johnston, McKinney Area Engineer for TxDOT, it should be open by the end of April. He can be reached at (972) 542-2345 if you have further questions.

Any update on 121 opening from the Dallas Tollway to 75? How about from the Dallas Tollway through The Colony?

Last week the inside lanes of the frontage road were opened between Standridge and FM 423. The east u-turn at Standridge and the west u-turn at FM 423 were also opened. The inside frontage road lanes between FM 423 and Plano Parkway are expected to open by mid June.

Anything about new lane frontage road lane openings east of Plano Parkway is unknown at this time. It will likely be July.

Currently the main lanes and all frontage road lanes from Hillcrest to Spring Creek Parkway are expected to open by September 1, 2008. The Preston road flyover is expected to open by mid June.

Asst. Director of Engineering/Transportation
