Meritage homes told me that the undeveloped park/land in the Development was donated to the city of Frisco, this was probably over two years ago, are there any plans to have this park developed in the near future? Will the City take suggestions on what to put on the land/in the park from the homeowners since it is part of an PUD and HOA dues are being paid?

Victor,

Thanks for your message regarding the development of what I believe we currently refer to as the Queens Gate neighborhood park. Contrary to what the home builder may have related to you, this 5 acre neighborhood park was purchased in 2004.

The master planning for this park is scheduled to take place later this year. We will have no less than two public meetings to discuss the master plan for this park once that process has begun. More information on these meetings will be forthcoming through our office as well as the locaal print media as we get closer to that initial meeting.

Development of the property as was the acquisition of the park will be through City funding. There is no public utility or improvement district that involves park development. The development and maintenance of the park would also be funded through the City and not through any HOA fees as you might have been told.

Currently, the City has funding identified for the development of the park for 2007. Typically, this would mean that construction and completion of the park would take place throughout that year, but may be completed in early 2008, depending on weather factors, construction initiation, etc.

Should you have any further questions regarding this, please feel free to let me or our staff know.

Thanks,

Emma,

Thanks for your note regarding the development of the Vivian Stark McCallum park site that is located in the Queens Gate development.

The master planning for the park is scheduled to take place later this summer and will include the process in which park plans are ultimately recommended to the Parks and Recreation Board for there recommendation to the City Council.

Once that process has been approved by the City Council, we typically post this master plan on our web site so that other residents such as yourself can view this.

I anticipate that we will have additional information on times and dates for master plan meetings that will be taking place within the next week or so. Please feel free to contact me or our staff for further information.

Thanks again for your interest in this great new neighborhood park.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland

I noticed that there will be a meeting regarding the park on August 3rd. Does this mean that the final plans will be put in place and then the development will start soon after that?

Victor,

Thanks for the note. Actually the public meeting on Thursday, August 3, 2006 will be the first opportunity to discuss the park and potential park elements that will be incorporated into the park.

I hope that you and others living in your neighborhood can make it to the meeting. On that same date there will actually be two master plan meetings that will be held at the new City Hall City Council Chambers.

The first will begin at 6:30 and will be for the Coyote Crossing (Dominion) neighborhood park.

The second meeting will be for the Vivian Stark McCallum (Queens Gate area) neighborhood park. That meeting will begin at 7:45 pm and will also be located inside the new City Hall in the City Council Chambers.

Development of both of these parks are currently scheduled and funded to take place in 2007.

If you have any additional questions regarding this, please feel free to let me or our staff know.

Thanks,

I was unable to attend the meeting on August 3rd, is there any place where I can go online to find out what was discussed during the meeting?

Mr. Alvarez,

Thanks for your note regarding the master plan meeting that took place for the Vivian Stark McCallum neighborhood park on Thursday, August 3, 2006.

While I do not have any posted minutes or notes from that particular meeting, you might be interested in knowing that the second public meeting to discuss the master plan for the park will be taking place on Thursday, August 31, 2006.

At that time, the park consultant will provide a couple of different scanarios that are based on comments made by residents that came to the August 3rd meeting. This meeting will provide residents another opportunity to help fine tune the master plan draft so that this can be forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Board for their consideration.

The August 31st meeting will take place inside the City Council Chambers of the new City Hall in Frisco Square and will begin at 6:30 pm. We hope that you can make it to this particular meeting.

Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me or our staff know.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland
