Now that a death from WMV has occurred across the SRT in Plano, what are the city's plans to combat this rapidly spreading epidemic?

We continue to monitor events as they occur. Our current practice is to spray the area when we have a confirmed case from the County. We spray the area as a precaution because we do not know if the person was bitten in the area or outside of the city.

We encourage the public to practice ďThe Four Dísí, which are precautionary measures promoted by the Texas Department of State Health Services:
DRAIN all standing water;
DRESS in light-colored, long sleeve clothing when outdoors;
DEET.. Use mosquito repellants that contain Deet;
DUSK OR DAWN..Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn. Avoid outdoor activities during these hours, when possible. Otherwise, make sure you use repellant containing DEET when outdoors during these times.
