During rush hour mornings, traffic moving east on Main has two available lanes to turn left onto the DNT service road, but the turning lanes (that span out into the roadway) are weakly defined.

With only a single turning lane, the driver is afforded both the middle and right lane. The left lane is for any U-turn traffic.

During rush hour, there is ambiguity on which driver has ownership over the middle lane.

Can the lines here be clarified? As most drivers know, the far left lane merges into the middle just after the intersection.

I don't know if there have been any accidents here, but offering both lanes for turning traffic without making clear traffic channels leaves room for unnecessary animosity between drivers rushing along to work.

Thanks for any feedback.

We will ask that our Public Works department refresh these markings.

Will there be a change to have 2 dedicated right turn lanes instead of the switching straight only/right only? If you watch the video of this intersection, someone is always going straight when it is right only. Regarding similar issues, Eldorado (East bound), making a right on Dallas Parkway only has one right turn lane. Traffice backs up to and often beyond the recenctly added stop light. Are either of these 2 intersections up for improvements as these are also high growth areas (in addition to Costco now opening).

The traffic volumes on Main Street require that we have more than one through lane at other times of the day. Therefore, the current lane that switches operation will not be converted to a right-turn only lane all of the time. When Main Street is widened in the future, we intend to provide two dedicated right-turn lanes. There are no plans to widen Main Street yet, but we are currently documenting the needs along the Main Street corridor and analyzing some alternatives. Regarding people violating the lane assignment sign, the police have been conducting some directed patrols in the past couple months to enforce the right-turn sign.

Currently, it is not possible to provide two lanes turning right onto Dallas Parkway from Eldorado Parkway because there are only two lanes on the frontage road. There would need to be three lanes on the frontage road in order to accept dual right turns because we need to provide a certain turning radius for each lane (because of trucks and other large vehicles). We have a project under design right now that will add the third lane to the frontage road. Construction is expected to start in mid 2012. Once that construction is complete, we will provide dual right-turn lanes from Eldorado.

Noticed that they made a NEW line that clearly indicates paths for the turning cars. Thank you!
