I know in the past political signs were exempt from sign posting laws (except for size)

I noticed yesterday that on the west side of Preston around the gaylor-wade area there was a shrine to a single person. There were 18x24 signs every few feet leading up to a much larger sign.

Was anything ever updated to stop these "shrines"?

We cannot regulate the number of signs. Let the candidate know that their advertising tactics may influence how you vote and they might change them.
