We live in Greyhawk Community and we often see the dog owners leave the dogs without the leash. Some of them are big ones. Yesterday three dogs ran right towards the wife and my kids while they were walking. The dogs did not bite but it was really scary moment. By the way, this was not the first time. If I want to make a formal complaint, where should I go?

Call Animal Control at (972) 292-5303 or email at animalcontrol@friscotexas.gov.

Dogs need to be on a leash at all times. The standard first time fine is $167.00.

Unfortunately, we are unable to patrol areas proactively like we would hope to. We only have two officers on at any time and they are usually very busy. If there is a pattern to the day of the week and the time of the day, we can try to patrol the area.

May dog owners bring their dogs on public playgrounds? Is there a law stating dog owners must keep their dogs a certain distance from playgrounds. I live in Grayhawk and I get really upset when dog owners bring their dogs to the playground and let them run around with my children.

The only law is that they have to be on a leash. They can't bring them to the park and let them run free.

Dog owners bring their dogs to Frisco Commons on a daily basis and let them run free. I would like to see some enforcement of the statutes.

As posted earlier, we only have two officers to patrol the city and most of our day is being reactive. We will try to keep an eye on that area. Murphy's law says that there won't be anyone there when we are. We ask that you call the PD non-emergency line at (972) 292-6010 so that they can dispatch an officer or relay the information to us so that we can address the problem when it is occurring.

Thanks for letting us know

Additional information regarding dogs and parks:

Unlawful to allow animals in/on athletic fields/facility or in concession, plaza, restroom and playground areas or within 75 feet thereof.

This is a section under the parks ordinance. Animal Control does not have authority under this ordinance, so violations would have to be reported to the police department.
