Is there any chance the intersection of Lebanon and Hillcrest will see improvements one day? I rarely see drivers heed the "No Right on Red" sign on SB Hillcrest, and I've seen several near-misses as a result. I would like to see a re-alignment of these roads, but if nothing else, could new signs be installed (such as the flashing sign at Gaylord/Preston for Hillcrest traffic or caution signs for Lebanon traffic)?

Ryan,

Realigning the intersection of Lebanon & Hillcrest is not possible because of right-of-way constraints. The only way to do it would be to tear down some homes, and we would not do that. However, the intersection will be improved at some point in the future as each road is on the throughfare plan as a future six lane roadway. (The two additional lanes would be added to the inside.) However, this widening is not on the drawing boards yet because the traffic volumes do not warrant it.

The No Right Turn On Red signs are fully visible to southbound traffic and so if motorists are not obeying them, that is an enforcement issue. We can ask the police to do some directed patrolling at the intersection. The flashing LED sign at Gaylord & Preston is used because the turn-prohibition is only in effect part of the time, and so a sign is needed that can be turned on and off. Such a sign would not be applicable at Lebanon & Hillcrest.
