Victor,

To date we have not received any application for site plan or plat approval for the property. These steps must be completed before the City can issue a building permit for construction. As there is no application in at this time we do not know when Walmart will move forward to the next step before construction.

Matt,

A site plan has been submitted for staff review and comment. All staff comments have been addressed and the site plan is scheduled to be considered by the Planning & Zoning Commission at their December 22, 2009 meeting. The civil construction plans have also been submitted and are being reviewed by staff at this time.

Once the site plan and civil construction plans have been approved the developer may begin site work as well as utility work. We have not received an application for building plan approval which will be required before they can begin work on the building itself. We do not know when this will be submitted.

Do we know if the design will look like the modern design in Plano at DNT & Park or more like the old blue box building style at 121 and Ohio?

Brian,

The design of the proposed Walmart will not be similar to either of the examples that you have given. As it would be difficult to describe to you the proposed design I would suggest that you come to the Development Services offices in the George Purefoy Municipal Center, third floor, to see a rendering of the proposed building.

Wal-Mart has not provided a “opening” date to us. Earlier communications indicated they would like to be open before Summer, 2011.

Wondering if there is any update in terms of a date that the Wal-Mart on Hickory plans to open. They seem to be moving pretty fast in putting it together.

Are there other shops that will open at the same time?

Thanks in advance.

We have not been given an opening date for Wal-Mart. And no specific plans for other stores at this site in the near future
