I know this was mentioned that it was to be considered last year. Currently political signs are exempt from the sign laws. Has anything been discussed about the fact that some people have signs every 10 feet cluttering up corners. Preston and Wade is getting to be a bad one this time around.

We only look at where they are placed. They can put several in a row. We have asked that several of the larger signs be moved because they were a visibility hazard.

Here is the code regarding political signs. Remember that we are limited in what we can restrict by case law and the 1st Amendment.

Political sign. A sign that relates to the election of a person to a public office, relates to a political party, relates to a matter to be voted upon at an election called by a public body, or contains primarily a political message.
(1) Time. No sign permit required. No restrictions.
(2) Place. Political signs shall be located only on private property with the consent of the property owner. A political sign shall not be erected closer than ten feet from the edge of the street pavement, located on any public property, within a designated easement or right-of-way.
(3) Manner. Political signs shall not exceed eight feet in height measured from the ground to the highest point of the sign. Political signs shall not exceed 36 square feet in area. Political signs shall not be illuminated. Political signs shall not contain any moving elements or parts. Political signs shall not be dilapidated or cause a hazard.
