A Dallas Morning News article on 01/17/09 stated the Exide plant here in Frisco was Texas' 5th highest emitter of lead. What can you share about the nature of the emissions and their potential harm to Frisco's residents?

Mr. Engelskirchen,

In conjunction with State environmental agencies the City previously investigated possible public health effects related to Exide's emissions. That investigation did not demonstrate any adverse impacts from the Exide facility. The City continues to monitor the situation.

Is it still the city's position that no adverse impacts exist?

The health effects study the City commissioned in the 1990's did not identify any adverse health effects directly related to Exide's emissions at that time. The TCEQ is the governmental agency with direct regulatory authority over Exide's emissions. The City expects Exide to operate in compliance with all TCEQ regulatory requirements.
