Is there any specific building code regarding the installation of light fixtures (incandescent or fluorescent) in closets? If so, is there someplace on-line where I may view the code?
Specifically, Iíve heard a builder state they could not install a fluorescent light in a non-walk-in closet (due to some restriction in the building code).

Light fixtures in closets are regulated by the International Residential Code and the National Electric Code.
Incandescent lights must have completely enclosed lamps with a minimum clearance of 12 inches from any storage space. Fluorescent lights must have a minimum clearance of six inches from any storage space.
The code sections are not available on line, but we can provide a copy of a particular section by email. Contact me at 972 292-5301 if you would like to have it sent to you.
