Are there any plans to put lights up on the basketball courts at Newman Park? The light currently placed does not allow enough light to shoot around after 6 pm during the winter. I know my son and I would appreciate being able to play afterwork some evenings. Perhaps the lights could have a timer like at Warren Sports Complex?

Mr. Cannata,

Thanks for your note regarding any plans that the City might have to provide lighting at the outdoor basketball courts that are located at J.R. Newman neighborhood park.

Specifically to your question, no we do not typically light any facilities in our neighborhood parks due to the fact that their operating hours are from sunrise to sundown.

Our commmunity parks do have more extended operating hours and their facilities are typically lighted. This would include athletic fields, tennis courts and outdoor basketball courts. At Warren Sports Complex, we have two lighted basketball courts available for use in the evenings until 11:00 pm.

Should you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Thanks again for your question and interest.
