The Eldorado & Custer intersection is already getting quite busy. With the paving of Eldorado from Hillcrest to Custer and the opening of two new schools along Eldorado it is going to get even worse. Do you have any plans to put a light at this intersection any time soon?

Richard,

I will contact the City of McKinney. If a warrant study has not been completed, we will do so and coordinate with them and TxDOT about getting a signal installed.

Thanks

What was the result of the study?

Richard,

The study has not been completed yet. It is on our list to complete. I expect it to be done before the end of May. We are currently collecting traffic count data at over 100 locations around the city. This intersection is included in that data collection effort.

Brian,

With school getting ready to start, can you give us a status update on this study?

Also, what will be the impact on this intersection once Independence opens from main to Eldorado (scheduled for Aug 15th). I would imagine a lot of traffic will go that way instead of trying to get through the Custer/Main intersection.

Thanks

Richard,

A signal warrant study has been completed for this intersection. We are currently working on developing an agreement with McKinney and TxDOT that will address who will fund, operate, and maintain the signals along Custer. We will submit a request to TxDOT to authorize a signal at this intersection based on the warrant study once the funding, operation, and maintenance of the signal is determined.

Thanks
