I am concerned about school zone signage on roads that intersect the school zones. Many places in Frisco there are roads that intersect into a school zone, yet there are no signs or flashing signs to alert drivers they are in the middle of a school zone. If the driver turns right or left into the school zone, he/she might not know the zone exists until reaching the other end and seeing the flashing yellow light in the rear view mirror. In zones where there is no light, how are drivers supposed to know the school zone times?

I believe this makes the enforcability of the zones questionable unless the officer can definately say he/she saw the driver enter the zone from a direction where proper signage was posted. Besides that, it creates an unsafe situation that defeats the purpose of the school zone.

As an example, I recently was heading southbound on Clipper, and turned right onto Canoe and proceeded at 30MPH, not knowing that I was in the middle of a school zone that was in effect. There is no signage on Clipper to indicate that there is a school zone on Canoe. I didn't know until I had passed the zone and saw the yellow light in my rear view mirror. I would never intentionally speed in a school zone, and I definately would have fought the ticket in court had I received one based on improper signage.

Thank you for the information.

We will visit the area and make the necessary modifications.

Most of the time when entering the zone from the side street, there is a sign posted directly across from where vehicles are required to stop. If that is not present, then we try to have a sign posted shortly downstream from where a vehicle will enter the zone. Depending on zone length and other mitigating factors, this cannot always be achieved.

We will check our other locations as well. If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if could please e-mail me the other locations you know of so we can make sure to review them as well.
