Mr. Sokhanvar,

Thank you for your message regarding the lighting along Preston Road. The contractor is attempting to have the service installed and the meters set for the northern section this week.

I would anticipate that the two northern sections should be on by the end of next week if the utility company can set the power. The contractor has a little more work on the southern section but it should follow behind in a week or two after that.

The lights, median landscaping, artwork, commercial setbacks and building treatments were all approved by City Council as part of the Preston Road Overlay District. This overlay district was developed to set Preston Road off as a prime commercial corridor.

Thanks again for your questions and feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions.

Why were all the lights taken off the poles a few days ago and are being put back up today?

Brian C,

Thanks for your note and question about the lights along Preston Road. The lights on the southern end of the project were installed with one fixture per pole by TxDOT. The lights were taken down to install two lights per pole to provide better light coverage.

If you have any additional questions regarding this, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Thanks,
