My builder tells me that the building code in Frisco requires fluorescent lights in all closets and the laundry room ... The room where my washer and dryer will be is actually a large "hobby room" rather than simply a laundry room and I really don't want the fluorescents in there ... Any way to get around this?

The International Residential Code allows, but does not require, flourescent light fixtures in closets or laundry rooms. Flourescent fixtures are sometimes necessary in closets because of reduced clearance requirements from storage areas as opposed to incandescent fixtures.

Is there any requirements for the types of lights on a residential garage?
