Where can I find information on what solvents may be safely (& legally) used to clean car motor oil stains from a street or driveway?

We are in the process of securing information from the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regarding your request. In the meantime we have a couple of suggestions that are safe and environmentally friendly methods for clean up.

If a large amount of oil is visible try spreading kitty litter over the area. It is an excellent absorbent. Sweep up after use and place in a plastic bag. Bring it to our Household Hazardous Waste Center for safe disposal. Hours of operation Wednesday 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. or the lst Saturday of the month 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. For the stubborn stain we suggest you use "Simple Green" this product can be found in your local retail and hardware stores. It is chemical free and biodegrable. There are other products on the market that contain natural microbes that will also do the job however they may take a while to find.

I hope this information is useful, please feel free to contact me at 972-335-5519 if I can be of further service.

Thanks for caring about our environment!
