I was told by an alarm monitoring service salesman that I cannot have an exterior sounding alarm siren due to Frisco noise ordinances. Is this true or was he just trying to sell me his service because an inside sounding does nothing to protect my house? I do understand that an alarm permit would be necessary, but as long as I get the proper permit, can I have an exterior siren?

There is not an outright prohibition against outside alarms, however, a permit for any alarm system that could summon a public safety response is required. If the unit malfunctions and goes off unreasonably, the owner could be cited for violation of the noise ordinance.
