We are in process of building a new (single family) house with a builder in the Winding Creek subdivision in Frisco. We want to move the TV power outlet up at 4'5" height from the floor, but builder said it is not possible to move the existing one (as per the city code); however, we can add a new one on top of the existing at the desired height. which I doubt, if it is the correct information? Is there a city code not to move power-outlets vertically up while maintaining the horizontal placement (adhering to the city code of having certain feet of distance between two outlets)?

Any pointers/info is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

General purpose receptacle outlets must be within 6 at any point along a wall in a residence, but may be at any height below 5 6.

We are in process of building a new (single family) home with a builder in the Winding Creek subdivision, Frisco. We asked the builder to position the electrical outlets in the master bedroom just like their model home but we were told that they can't move the outlets as per city code but my question to the builder was that how in the world their model home passed the inspection and the answer we got was that city inspectors either didn't catch or the city code changed since the model was built. We were not asking anything new but wanted what's in the model home, and the location of the electrical outlets in their model home will be ideal for us to place our bed, side tables..chest etc. Typically we chose to build the model home looking at the way how it was built.

Any advise / direction / opinion from the experts will be appreciated.

Thank you
