Hi, first wanted to thank the city of Frisco for having this great site!

I was wondering why 423 going South is only one lane but going north is two lanes? Traffic is bad going south on 423 during the morning and evening rush hours.

Also it looks like the monthly construction report has not been updated on the city of Frisco web site?

For the past year, both northbound and southbound traffic have utilized the southbound side of the roadway. There has been one lane southbound, one lane northbound, and a turn lane. A couple of weeks ago, the northbound traffic was moved to the new northbound pavement. These lanes were opened for the first time and were striped correctly. The third northbound lane has remained closed in order to allow the contractor room to complete work in the median. Meanwhile, the southbound lanes have to be restriped to allow multiple lanes in one direction. This work could not be done until the northbound traffic was switched. Unfortunately, about that time, some small rain showers were occurring periodically. In order for stripe to stick to the pavement, the pavement must be absolutely dry. The stripers are scheduled to begin restriping the southbound lanes on Monday, 8/27. It should take one or two weeks to complete the striping.

I am still very puzzled why they have lanes blocked, turn lanes, on the completed parts of 423.

If work was still being done on corners, stoplight work, etc. I could understand it. But it's not in these particular spots and by blocking out the turn lanes, it adds risk of wrecks.

I am specifically referring to 423 & Smotherman, both ways, and 423 and that intersection by the gas station on the east side of 423 in front of Kroger there.... coming from the west, turning right (south) onto 423.

Lanes are still closed on FM 423 while some miscellaneous work in the medians is finished. In addition, the permanent traffic signals have not been completed, so for safety purposes, the third lane remains closed. The signals are expected to be completed on October 16 and all lanes opened on October 17.
