Wayfinding is defined as signs, maps, and other graphic or audible methods used to convey location and directions to travelers. The intent is to help our visitors find their destination, and become aware of secondary destinations, on their visit to our community.

The city welcomed 4.33 million visitors in 2008
3.83 million day-trip visitors came from D/FW and a 200 mile radius
350,000 stayed in local hotels
$1.24 billion was spent by visitors inside the city
Retail spending accounted for $396 million
Meetings & conference spending totaled $41.4 million
More than 9,000 jobs within the city are supported by the travel & tourism industry
$21.8 million in sales tax in 2010
$2.99 million in hotel / motel tax in 2010

The value of a city wide wayfinding program is
Increases in Tourism
Wayfinding provides increased awareness of additional attractions
Increase in Visitation
Wayfinding provides increased awareness of the depth of destinations
Benefit to Secondary Destination
Discovery of secondary destinations en route to primary destination

There will be approximately 130 signs located throughout the city and 12 pedestrian kiosks. Council authorized funding for the sign fabrication and installation as well as landscape and lighting enhancement to 11 primary and secondary entry signs and art enhancement to the 12 pedestrian kiosks. These art enhancement include mosaic tile themes and decorative weathervane style finials to match the artistic themes.
