Hello, this Q & A is really informative. My neighbor has crape myrtle trees in the alley. Not sure if he has permit for those. I was not paying much attention to trees but after research found out that some trees can extend its roots and cause foundation problem later. Does crape myrtle fall under this list? Is there any city law in place for residents before they plant trees other than front yard?

No, Crape Myrtle does not come in to that category. Stay away from large trees especially Ash and Cottonwood.
