Does the city have any plans to add landscaping (trees, etc.) to the median on Eldorado between Custer Road and Independence? If so, when? If not, why?

Median trees will be part of the Eldorado widening project anticipated to begin construction during 2012. Street lights and trees will be installed at the end of the project timeframe.

Can you answer the same question for Eldorado between DNT and Preston? Also, will the streetsigns (DNT, Preston, etc) be upgraded to the lighted versions? Lastly, how about landscaping on the recently finished Preston?

Sorry for all the questions, but thanks in advance.

Illuminated street name (ILSN) signs will be added to several of the signals along Eldorado from DNT to Custer. They will be added to DNT and Eldorado later this year when that signal is rebuilt into a permanent signal (steel poles). Signs are on order for the Preston at Eldorado signal and will be installed this summer. ILSNs will be added to Hillcrest at Eldorado and Coit at Eldorado when those signals are converted to permanent signals when the Eldorado widening is complete in that area. At Custer and Eldorado, the ILSNs are in the process of being ordered and will be installed by this fall.

City staff is working with TxDOT to fund the Preston Road landscaping through their Green Ribbon Grant program. We are hoping to secure funding from TxDOT in Fall 2012 with construction beginning shortly thereafter. Design is approximately 60% complete. Construction should take 5-6 months.
