Now that Legacy is now open all the way through from SH121 to Eldorado Pkwy, is there going monitoring of the timing at Main St going North on Legacy During the evening Commute?
On several evenings coming Northbound on Legacy traffic has been backed up past the Fire Station, almost to Fourth Memorial. Traffic travelling East or West on Main St does not seam to experiencing any delays at this intersection.

The new extension of Legacy from Lebanon to El Dorado does help with the commute from 121 to the NW Frisco area. The expansion of the road from 2 lanes to 4 is rather limited on Legacy (just south of the Main intersection). Those continuing north on Legacy must wait in the same line as those turning west onto Main. This is contributing to the backups that block the fire station. What are the plans for allowing northbound traffic to expand to a wider road further south of the Main/Legacy intersection? Do we have to wait until the adjacent land is developed or will this be done in the near future?

Thank you.

Mickie and N Woodland,

We are working on making signal timing adjustments along the Legacy corridor. Our first efforts have been working with TxDOT and Plano to get some changes made at SH 121 and Legacy. Some of those changes were made yesterday. Now we will be starting to make adjustments from Stonebriar to Main.

The remaining lanes of Legacy from Citation (roadway that intersects Legacy just south of the fire station) to Main will either be constructed with new development or will be constructed with bond funds from an upcoming bond election.

We are evaluating some interim changes to the transition areas on Legacy just south of Main. If these changes can be made, it will result in having two continuous northbound lanes from Lebanon to Main while maintaining one lane southbound on Legacy.

Thanks

What is the timeline for the proposed restriping?

Matt,

I do not have a definitive timeline yet. We are trying to determine the cost and identify funding. If the changes can be made and made quickly, I would like to have the changes done within 8 weeks.

Thanks

Any updates on the restriping of Legacy? It seems like a nice idea, but haven't heard or seen any updates.

Is there any plans to widen this stretch of street to 4 lanes, two each way, in the near future? I never could figure out why they did not make it 4 lanes from the start.

Is there plans to widen this stretch of street to 4 lanes, two each way, all the way from Lebanon to Main Street? Why was this not done from the start?

Dear Mmhabib:

Leagacy Drive from Main Street to Citation Court is currently under design with construction begining as early as January 2007. The project will provide two lanes in each direction with the ability to expand to three lanes in each direction when traffic volumes warrant.

After further review of the existing situation and the construction schedule for this project, we found that alterations of the road would be necesary to install striping in compliance with standards, which would require additional funds. Due to the forthcoming construction project we have elected not to restripe this section until the improvments are completed. Construction is expected to begin January 2007 and is scheduled to be complete by September 2007.

Thank you for your concern; your observations and comments are important. For more details on this project please contact me (972) 292-5435. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jeff Hogan, P.E.
