At what time in the morning, does the traffic light at El Dorado & Teel convert to "rush hour" timing? When I'm heading southbound on Teel @ 4:50 am, the light turns green within seconds after approaching the intersection. When I'm returning northbound anywhere from 5:45-6:00 am, it seems that I have to wait a much longer amount of time. It can be frustrating to sit at a red when there is limited to no cross traffic on El Dorado at that time. Thanks.

All of our signals run in a free pattern during the night until 5:30am. At 5:30am most intersections run the off peak plan (100 second cycle length along Eldorado) and coordinate our major corridors (i.e. Eldorado, Preston, Main, etc.). At 6am, it transitions into the AM peak plan (120 second cycle along Eldorado) to get ready for the morning rush hour traffic. It runs this AM peak plan until 9am, then transitions back to the off peak plan.

We recently completed a major signal retiming project earlier this year and retimed 59 intersections in the city. We collected and analyzed 24-hour traffic count data at numerous locations in the city including at several locations along Eldorado for a period of 1 week. This 24 hour count data was used to determine when the different plans (cycle lengths) are used throughout the day. We will monitor this intersection and see if we can possibly start the pattern later in the morning if traffic conditions warrant.

Thank you,
