With Legacy/Lebanon under construction, Cotton Gin is getting a lot more use. Cars tend to really speed on the DNT service road, and combined with the increased volume on Cotton Gin, the DNT/CG intersection is becoming more congested. Cars are getting backed up 20+ deep on Cotton Gin during rush hour. I suppose a stop light may not be ideal considering the proximity of the northbound off ramp to the intersection, but how about some caution lights, an advisory speed limit, or other signage to make the intersection more visible to DNT service road traffic?

We will check the intersection to ensure that the proper sight lines are provided. In addition, we will look at what signs can be installed on Dallas Parkway in advance of the intersection (at a minimum we can install an "Intersection Ahead" warning sign).

In the medium term, traffic diverted from the Legacy/Lebanon construction project should disappear by July. In the long term, we are looking at what modifications would need to be made to the northbound frontage road and what funding would need to be identified for that in order for us to install a traffic signal at this intersection.

Can we get an update on a longer term fix for this intersection?

I got stuck behind an 18 wheeler trying to turn right onto the SB frontage from Cotton Gin for ten minutes the other day because there was not enough break in traffic for the truck to turn.

Mr. Elliott,

Signal construction is tentatively scheduled to occur sometime in 2013. We are also planning to add a third lane on Dallas Parkway from Warren to Eldorado. Design of the third lane improvements will start in 2013 and should begin construction in 2014 if bond funds are available.
