Curious about all the construction going on at Phillips Park in West Frisco. Are they adding a parking lot and more sidewalks? Or more fields?

Ryan,

More parking will be added as well as restroom concession building, walks, lighting and landscaping along the east side of the project.

Are there any estimated dates for beginning construction on the south portion of the park?

Ryan,

The southern portion of the master plan for B.F. Phillips Community Park (http://www.friscofun.org/Parks1/BF%20Phillips%20Master%20Plan.pdf) does show a playground facility in the southern section of the park, but as that phase of work is examined in more detail, more will be known as to whether it would be included or not.

If you should have any addtional questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks again,

Are there currently tennis courts at BF Phillips park? if not, will there be in the new future? Also, what is the status of the Frisbee golf course next to BF Phillips park? Thanks.

Kathy,

Thanks for your note regarding the development of B.F. Phillips Community Park. In regard to your question about there currently being tennis courts at the park, the answer would be no, there are no tennis courts currently in place at the park.

The master plan for the park http://www.friscofun.org/Parks1/BF%20Phillips%20Master%20Plan.pdf does show future tennis courts at the park south of the current present athletic facilities.

Timing for the phase of development that would bring about the development of the tennis courts has not yet been determined or funded to date. The park is currently under construction for its second phase of development and should be completed this upcoming fall.

As far as a Frisbee Gold Course, I am not aware of any plans to develop a Frisbee Golf Course at or near the B.F. Phillips Community Park site.

I hope that this has helped to address your questions. Should you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Thanks again for your questions.

Hi Rick,

The plan link referenced above does have an area titled 18 hole frisbee golf. Is this an old rendering? Thanks, James

James,

Thanks for your note. You are correct, I was in error regarding the master plan for the B.F. Phillips Community Park having a frisbee golf course identified within it.

We currently do not have a timeline identified for the development of such a facility. We will take a fresh look at this and discuss a possible time that the development of a frisbee golf course would work best.

Thanks again for identifying this for me. If you should have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Are there any updates on the disc golf course or other future developments for BF Phillips?

Matt,

Leadership Frisco continues to work on the Disc Golf Course. The heat as well as the course designer being out of pocket due to personal reasons, have slowed progress. However, both are committed to the project and we still expect it to be a success once finished. The Dog Park continues to progress and should be complete this fall. Other than those two projects there is not a timeline for the other phases of the park at this time.

Staff is continuing to work with a local leadership group for the initial land clearing of the “fairways” and excess brush. Once that is complete, staff will put the project out to public bid for the remainder of the work and the installation of the baskets and grass. We don’t have an exact time frame yet…but look for it to open late November.

Are there any current plans to build a pathway (paved or unpaved) between the dog park, the disc golf course, and/or the baseball area?

Mr. Brown,

Thanks for your note regardind a possible path or trail that would link the dog park, disc golf course and the current entry of B.F. Phillips Community Park.

While the ultimate plans for the park do have trails that would link these areas, we do not have a timetable in which the trail would be constructed.

We are exploring the possibility of creating a temporary trail that would provide a linkage from the parking area along Fourth Army Memorial Road, south to the dog park area.

With the opening of the Dog Park taking place in October, we will be monitoring use there to see if a trail would enhance additional off site parking ability.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to let me or our staff know.

Thanks again for your question.

Mr. Brown,

Thanks for your note regarding B.F. Phillips Community Park and the connection of the dog park to the other atheltic components located to the north and west of that facility.

This connection is directly affected by the design and construction of the 4th Army Memorial Drive extension and renovation. While those plans are progressing through our Engineering Services Department, there is not currently a firm time frame in which the development of 4th Army will take place.

Our staff will evaluate if a connection can be made prior to construction, or if it is best to make the connection after the construction is completed in this area. Due to the existing drainage ways there is some difficulty in providing a path that traverses between these two areas. That said, Staff will continue to evaluate the possibility throughout the process.

Should you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Thanks,

Is it possible to request for couple Volleyball courts (sand ones) in this park to be created just like in Warren Sports Complex. Is there an official way to request/send this proposals.

Raghu,

Thanks for your note regarding the possibility of constructing sand volleyball courts at what I believe is B.F. Phillips Community Park.

While we do not currently have any sand volleyball courts at this community park, I believe that possibility could occur with the next expansion of development to B.F. Phillips.

Expansion of the park can take place after 4th Army Memorial Road and a new bridge across Stewart Creek has been constructed from Lebanon Road to Timber Ridge Drive.

The master plan for B.F. Phillips Community Park can be found at:

http://www.friscofun.org/Parks1/BF%20Phillips%20Master%20Plan.pdf

I expect we will begin looking at possible expansion elements of this community park over the next 18 months.

Feel free to let us know if you should have any additional questions regarding this.

Thanks,
