I've read the city ordinance and didn't see anything prohibiting raising a couple of backyard hens. Is there any such prohibition?

Animal Control doesn’t have anything explicitly forbidding geese so as long as they are being kept within the Ordinance requirements there is no violation.

We will be reviewing and updating our animal control ordinance this year. I believe we will be addressing this issue more in depth. At this time we don't have anything prohibiting birds of any kind expect for the numbers. This would include geese, turkeys, chickens, pigeons, etc. This doesn't mean that there couldn't be other issues involved with these types of animals such as proper disposal of waste or noise. If you have questions regarding a specific home please call Animal Control at 972-292-5303. If you are planning to start a farm in your residential back yard you may be affected by future ordinance changes. You would not be grandfathered in if additional limits are implemented.
