When are new lanes on Ohio going to be opened? It seems that they have been done for some time now.

Ken,

Part of the new pavement failed inspection and there was a delay with the contractor replacing it. We expect the new northbound lanes to open (partially) in about a week. Once open, it will still be limited to one lane in each direction while they remove the old cross-over pavement connections. After that, all lanes will be open.

The new lanes on Ohio are great. Is the city now going to raise the speed limit on that section as well as College to 40 mph? Most of the other roads in the area of that size are currently 40 mph.

Ken,

Speed limits are dependent upon a number of criteria, including how drivers react to street width, curvature, and grade (hills). Speed limits on our thoroughfares are established through the use of engineering studies (which are conducted every two to three years on each roadway). Because Ohio was recently widened, we will be conducting a speed limit study on Ohio and College this year to see if the speed limit should be adjusted. If so, speed limit changes usually are implemented in the Fall.
