Is there any plans to follow Highland Park and University Park in only allowing handsfree or no cellphone use while going through school zones while lights are flashing?

There is no current plan to do so.

I was told that Frisco recently passed a law restricting cell phone usage in school zones. Is this true?

No sir. I have gathered some data for the City Council's review, however, they have not reviewed nor considered the ordinance at this time.

Heading east on Rolater just before Coit I have seen signs posted on the school zone signs stating “no cell phone use”. Curious however that if you turn right onto Coit you are still in a school zone and the signs are no longer there but my question is, if these signs are saying no use of cell phones at all or can hands free still be utilized?

Thank you

The signage, required by state statute, is placed at entry points into school zones. It is not placed on every school zone sign. Signs are placed on EB & WB Rolater as well as NB & SB Coit. It applies to the entire school zone, whether or not one turns onto another street within the school zone. The ban is on handheld devices. Hands-free devices are permissible.
