There are no plans to install a traffic signal yet, but we will monitor that area for the possible installation of a traffic signal in the future. We observe and collect the traffic volumes at all potential traffic signal locations and see if they meet the nationally standardized criteria for justifying the installation of a traffic signal. All of the locations that meet the necessary threshold will be prioritized based on traffic volumes, conflicting movements, and other factors. The City will then assign the funding available that year to the top ranked locations.
Due to the fact that there are no high school entrances on 4th Army Drive and the fact that there are no neighborhoods east of 4th Army Drive that are zoned to attend Reedy High School, we do not expect a significant amount of school traffic to travel on 4th Army Drive. Therefore, we do not expect a traffic signal to be warranted at that location when the school opens. However, as additional neighborhoods are built along 4th Army Drive, the traffic levels at the intersection might qualify for a traffic signal in the future.
One thing that we are doing before school starts is to install a reduced-speed school zone along Stonebrook Parkway in front of Reedy High School, which will extend through the intersection of Stonebrook and 4th Army Drive.
