A permit is required for any extensions or alterations of private driveways. Most extension of a driveway on an alley side is permissible, but we do ask that the improvements be kept at minimum 3 feet from adjoining properties and do not otherwise adversely affect the drainage of properties. Two copies of a plot plan of your property reflecting the scope of work including the methods of construction and a residential building permit application must be provide to Development Services customer desk on the 3rd floor of City Hall.
A R.O.W. permit is required from the Public Works Department to initiate a line locate of public utilities prior to excavation of any public property or easement. It is also State law to contact Texas One Call system for free franchise utility locates on your property prior to excavations. This can be done by dialing 811, 48 hours prior to start of your project.
